Living Out the Gospel in a Fallen World
Wed, June 24, 2026
- The infinity question: when does my fallen human strength end and God’s Spirit dwelling in me take over by faith?
- Or is this even the right question to ask?
- 2 Cor 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man is IN CHRIST, he is a NEW CREATION; old things have passed away, behold, all things are NEW.”
- The thing is, to be “in Christ” requires Grace, Faith and the Holy Spirit. To be “in Christ” requires the reality of Gal 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ. I no longer live but Christ lives in me, and the life I live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
- To be crucified with Christ is a done deal, an ongoing deal, and an eventual deal. At the moment of regeneration and conversion, we were united with Christ by faith, through His grace. This operation was conducted by the Holy Spirit who empowered the word of the truth of the gospel into the heart of the hearer. The hearer only needed to hear the word of the truth of the gospel.
- The word of the truth of the gospel is that I have sinned against the Creator and I fall short of His glory in every which way. In my original sin, I reflect His image upside down. Especially with my pride in using myself as the standard to Judge and Measure all things, including God and the witness of His Word.
- I am intrinsically and inherently broken. I’ve inherited a “godness” from our Creator God which I try to fill up with my own creaturely solutions, sourced from the natural realms operating both inside and outside of me. And no wonder nothing and no one in these natural realms satisfies in a sustainably satisfactory way.
- I keep returning to broken and contaminated sources of satisfaction, security and esteem that meets only the need of that moment. I have an itch, I scratch using my own means, it satisfies momentarily, and then the gnawing need remains.
- What satisfies?
- Only the word of the truth of the gospel Word which contains the Life of Christ through the empowering Holy Spirit. It’s not a wonder that Jesus said, “Abide in me, and my Word in you”. He that abides in Me, He said, will bear forth MUCH FRUIT. And that’s how the Father is glorified. When we bear the FRUIT of Christ and His Spirit, the very character of GOD.
