DEVOTIONALS IN THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST

The human heart was made for relationship. And the one ultimate relationship which trumps all others is the relationship with the Creator and Maker of Life. The Creator created the world and gave us His word written out expressly and explicitly. We still did not get Him. So He planned to come Himself. The story of life as it was originally set out was then laid out in all its drama and excitement through the entering into our human existence by the One who made existence! He invaded His world that still lives in denial of His obvious presence in it. He came and demonstrated His word. He is the Gospel made flesh in Jesus Christ.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the amazingly good news of God’s amazing grace contained in Jesus’s life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of His Father, Almighty GOD. It is not only forgiveness of all our sins, and the removal of guilt. It is also our being “cemented” (Luther, Galatian Commentary) with Christ. Christ takes our old man in Adam. Christ imputes God’s righteousness as a gift to us by faith.

The outcome of this glorious gospel is a union with Christ which brings the believer of Christ into union with the Triune GOD. Our lives are then spent discovering the glorious riches of God’s grace in Christ, and living out lives that are meaningful, through the participation of believer with God by faith, and mediated through the Person of the Holy Spirit. We then grow continuously from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor 3:17 & 18).

The walk of faith is an ever-deepening adventure of knowing Jesus Christ and enjoying Him and all the benefits of engaging and communing with the Eternal Triune GOD!

Only the humble who is deeply aware of their inner poverty will recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd calling out to His sheep who have gone astray. It is indeed “deep calling into deep”. Salvation in Christ when He is united with us touches every single aspect of our lives. Kuyper nails it when he said…
