Convictions, Confessions, and Prayers of Faith

·

  1. I was greatly encouraged by the Praying Church Life seminar yesterday (Saturday, 19th Oct, 2024) held at City Discipleship Presbyterian Church, Subang (Home | CDPC Subang Jaya), and led by Jon Hori of seeJesus ministry (seeJesus Ministry | A Global Discipling Mission), and organized by Gospel City Network (Gospel City Network – Serving the Church).
  2. I am determined to pray the WORD with faith. To pray the Word with faith means the assurance of what I’m hoping for in prayer through the WORD will be answered in the conviction that things hoped for, which are unseen (things prayed for) will be seen, or will materialize (Heb 11:1-3).
  3. Romans chapter 4, verses 7 & 8 quotes Psalms 32: 1 & 2 and records the assurance God gives His people faith in the precious Assurance of the Blessedness “of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works, and shall not impute sin”.
  4. , captures this truth graphically.
  5. A moment of revelation dawned on me; the confession of the lips is connected with the conviction of the “leb” (Hebrew for heart). Confession of the conviction displays evidence of what one truly believes in their heart. And individual’s heart of hearts is revealed from what they say, repeatedly.
  6. Jesus said in Matt 12:34-37 about these things. The words that come out of a person’s heart reveals the nature of the person. Jesus pointedly said in verse 34, “For out of the ABUNDANCE of the heart (convictions, belief or unbelief) the mouth speaks (confession).” (emphasis mine)
  7. What forms the basis of my belief system? What informs and influences my core beliefs? Values?
  8. Hebrews chapter 11, verse 3 says, “Be FAITH we Understand…” Human nature reverses God’s order in God’s Word. The worlds were created by the “Word” – translated from the Greek word, Logos. In John’s gospel, the first chapter, this Logos which was with God in the beginning, is identified as God, and revealed in verse 14, as Jesus Christ, the Logos incarnated in flesh.
  9. All that is seen, all the basic materials of the world created, was created through Jesus Christ, the Eternal Word of God. The material sensory realm was made out of things “unseen”, the Word.
  10. Can we “see” God’s word? Yes, contained in Scriptures. But the power of faith is released when we “hear” God’s Word:
  11. Some will Respond in Faith and experience its amazing and abundant blessings, favor and glory.
