- I was reading J Todd Billings, “United with Christ – Reframing Theology and Ministry for the Church”, Baker Academic, Mich, (2011), pg 19, and this statement, “The adopted child of God (and he explains the Trinitarian salvation content) which all occurs in Christ – the adopted one is an “heir” of God, united to the Son”.
- Meditating upon the amazingly awesome truth of God led me to realize that there is NO place for the “orphan syndrome” in the believer of Christ who is united to Him through the grace of God, and by faith alone in God’s gospel word.
- “Orphan syndrome” is the psychological dynamic which frequently rises up from the hearts of believers who have yet to experience their sonship of God. The outcome is a constant nagging feeling that God does not accept them. This in turn is projected onto every relationship, notably in the workplace, or school, and at home. It brings low self-worth up close to the believer.
- The believer, however, according to Ephesians chapter 2, and verses 1 to 8, is quickened (regenerated) together with Christ, both in His death, and His resurrection. And His ascension to the right hand of God. Col 3:1-3 makes an absolute case of our hiddenness and identity with Christ “in God”!
- Therefore, in the light of this glorious gospel revelation, it is the truth of our “ontological transformation“, instantaneously, progressively and future glory, that must become an experiential reality for the believer through the direct revelation of the Spirit, from the Father, and by the Mediator, Christ Jesus, the Living Word Incarnate, who energizes faith in the believer’s heart as they hear the written word of God’s gospel of Christ.
